And buyer beware! Not everything is as it seems. We recently road tested the latest version of the Tom Tom One Europe 22 edition! We tested it through Western Europe and loved it. Unfortunately our love affair was short lived. The wise guys at Tom Tom in their infinite wisdom (in our opinion have cut corners) by only giving the Tom Tom One a measly one GIG of memory.

Now that might sound a lot, but bear in mind that the Western Europe map takes up the vast majority of that space, leaving no room for upgrades, additions or even buying another map for goodness sakes! How stupid and short sighted can that be? Imagine buying a computer with no room to put any programs or updates - well that is Tom Tom One with 1 GIG of memory.

We challenged Tom Tom and were told that was the way it is and if we wanted to travel to anywhere in Central or Eastern Europe we would have to DELETE/BACK UP the existing Western Europe map and upload the Central or Eastern Europe map!! How stupid? How short sighted is that? How many other companies would DISCOURAGE you from buying additional maps because they don't have enough memory in their brand new product!! 2 GIGS of memory or a memory slot would have been ideal additions to an excellent Sat Nav and would have overcome this irritating problem easily.

So our message is read the fine print and ask every question you can think of BEFORE parting with your hard earned cash to buy any Sat Nav. Never assume anything. We would love to recommend the Tom Tom One, but for the lack of memory, we would advise you to avoid it, unless of course you only plan to travel in Western Europe.

With the EU expanding at the rate it is, more and more people will be exploring the delights of Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary etc etc and most would like to do this, without needing to delete and upload maps at the border!
